Hello all! My name is James. I just bought this boat from a fellow postal brother, yes I am a mailman! Its in need of floor and transom. A question I have is, does all these model years have the same type of transom cap? Looks mine has a cap, end caps unbolt and slide out. Looks like it has been taken out before tho. I will post pics later.

Hey Okie welcome to iboats ( and the Starcraft club once we see pics of the boat ) :D. Yes most of them are pretty close to the same and yes if your caps are bolted on them they have been off before as they were originally held on with rivets. Looking forward to your resto . Look on the main page of the site there is a section for restorations where alot of us Starcrafters are hanging out and doing resto's on our boats.

I dont plan on restoring this original state. I will use this boat for fishing and maybe a little tubeing?I just gonna redo the transom and deal with floor and outside paint next year. I just sold my large skiff boat cause it was too rough in bigger lakes. I hope i can make this boat work. With full time job and kids its hard to lay down the extra time to hobby work! I hope i can sit out a few days of fishing to make it this happen?

okiebo, there is a tutorial in the tips and tricks for removing the transom. me, i just cut then back a bit with a cut off wheel, the corner caps cover them anyways...

Thanks for the info guys! All your projects looks great! Truly inspiring! I have to build a stand today for my motor so I can get to work on the transom.

Thanks Andy! I mad one today out of some old treated 2x8, 4x4 & 2x6. I have a pile of of lumber from my parents pool deck we took down. Old but still useable! Should I have this thread moved to the restoration? I will be asking questions and posting pics when I can. I have found some areas that will need adressed on the transom.

mine was made out of old scrap 2x4's as well... when we first bought our house there were alot of extra walls that the previous owner put up, so i had tons of them in the garage from when we took them down.

I would say yes have it moved to resto because it will get more traffic there, but all the die hard guys (me, rick, kevin, bob, bret, etc) all frequent here. but ya, have it moved to resto. and make sure to post LOTS of pics.

Okie I wouldnt worry to much about having this one moved just go ahead and start a fresh resto thread over there in the resto section . There are a pile of us over there and although we do all swing through here I am sure most of us go over there first and then pop in here to see whats happening :D.
