Recently had a old 1972 Mercury 7.5HP model 75 outboard passed down to me. But it does not have a fuel tank and does not use current fuel tank connections.
So what size is the connector on the outboard - 1/4, 3/8, 5/16 ???
And can I add a new fitting for a new style fuel tank connection ??

Thanks -- Jack

Does it have the small 1/4" connector on the front of the motor? I have a 1970 model and the original small connectors are available, but very expensive. I just slip a 1/4" fuel hose over it and it works fine. You can take a 12"-18" piece of hose, 1/4" would be good, and eliminate the original connector and just let the hose hang out the front of the motor. You can then install the cheaper and more available OMC type connectors to the tank hose and motor hose.
There is not enough room for the new style Mercury fitting at the front of the motor, I tried.
