Hello guys, I am fighting a problem with my inline 1972 Mercury 115. I have had it to a local shop and he redid all the carbs and checked it out. I have replaced the bulb and hose with Original Mercury parts, the problem that I have is it runs great at idle and if I let it idle a while it will run great on plane, then it will lose power until it will all but idle. If I squeeze the ball when its doing that it picks right back up, I am nearly 100% sure that it needs a fuel pump, the ball isnt soft but I can squeeze it and it picks right up(nearly tossed me out the back of the boat!).
The tech at the shop said he ran it and the pump is OK. I tend to think he cant run it long enough to get the concern to show up. He is doing it on a dyno. My question is, how easily on this engine is the fuel pump to replace and where can I get parts for this old of an engine. I will post the serial number tomorrow after I get back to the boat, I wrote it down but lost it in my truck somewhere on the way home tonight. Thanks for any help you can offer and also any pointers about what I should and shouldnt do while attempting to do this. I am selling the boat at the end of the season, but wont sell it until I know the problem is gone.

Matt
