Hello.
I have a 1972 Mercruiser 6 cylinder 165hp, the drive serial # 3326459, the engine serial # is 3381791. The drive was sent out to be rebuilt. I am ready to put it back on the boat, but the input shaft yoke is about 9 1/2" long and looks longer to me than before. I didn't know enough to measure it when I pulled it before, and now after some research I find out that there are two different lenghts. Everything that I read about this says that I need the short 8 1/8" yoke shaft. The rebuilder says they put the same yoke back on but I disagree.
Here are some measurements taken from the bellhousing face where the 6 studs are: to the outer body of the coupler is 13 5/8"; to the coupler splines is 14 1/16"; and all the way in to touch the engine is 19 9/16".
I certainly do not want to screw this up. Any help???!!
Thanks,
Bill K.
