Howdy guys,
New to the forum and boating in general but excited to get the boat up on the pad! I just recently purchased a BEAUTIFUL 1972 model Newman trihull with a matching year 65hp johnson power shift ii. I got an excellent deal considering it didn't run. I pulled the lower unit off and hooked up the water and it fired right up!
Onto the lower unit, the old one had a bad seal and was LOCKED up due to rust I suppose. My goal was to get it on the water quick, so I bought another off what I was told to be an 87'. After fabricating an opposite shift linkage (the shift pattern was opposite) and some other minor fab work I was able to get her going! unfortunately, the weep holes (pressure bypasses for the impeller I assume) on the side of the lower unit are leaking oil. What does that mean? Can it be fixed with new seals?
