I've been working through this project boat, and with some of ya'll's help I have isolated my lack of spark to be the timer base or more accurately the ignition trigger.

I don't want to buy a new timer base assembly as it would cost more than I gave for the whole boat, and I still can't be 100% certain that will fix the electrical problem, and more importantly, I have no idea what this engine will do once fired up (good compression, but no idea what kind of shape the gears and lower drive unit are in internally).

So I ordered a CDI Electronics trigger kit from ishopmarine.com two weeks ago, it appears that this part is on backorder indefinitely, so now I'm searching for a used timer base. Anybody have any ideas? I'm in the SouthEast US (Georgia), and there's lakes everywhere, but apparently only one boat salvage yard, and those idiots pulled the wrong part and made me drive for 2 hours to see that they pulled the wrong part and weren't any help after that. (they pulled the correct timer base, but stripped the trigger and electronics off of it and threw them away).

Anybody know where I can get either a CDI-1330875K1 (trigger kit) or a used timer base assembly for this boat?

iShopMarine.com has the Timer Base Assembly for 253.00. The have an ignition trigger kit (which is all I really need) for $89.00, that's the part that is on Backorder.

I'm not going to buy a 300.00 part for this motor until I get a better idea of whether it's worth the time/money/effort, that's why I'm seeking a used timer base assembly or a place that can sell me the CDI Electronics ignition trigger kit.

Timer base it was, I also noticed the flywheel had been buggered up I guess by shearing a key and spinning. $50 at the local salvage yard fixed that. Bought a new timer base (ouch) and it starts at the turn of a key now.

I pulled the flywheel back off after initially starting it because I sheared a key, and I see that the inside "trigger" portion of the flywheel appears to be rubbing against the trigger of the new timer base. Expensive timer base, did I say expensive? Should attempt to adjust this?

Many thanks to the folks here who helped me figure out how to get this thing started, It may see water in the next week or so.
