Just got a 1972 Starcraft Tri Hull with a Johnson 100 motor on it. When we purchased the engine ....yesterday. It started on first try. And even restarted a second time. We went to take it for a spin and could not get the thing to start. Long story short we found this small coil wire, that was(suppost to be) connected to the choke that was not attached to the lever that would move it up and down (open or shut) I'm no mechanic guys (obviously). My father was helping us and held the small piece down that was no longer connected to the lever and the engine started. Problem solved!? I think not. We CANNOT get it to start again. Any suggestions. I will post a pic later so you can see what I'm talking about. Any help would be great!

Re: 1972 Johnson 100

That engine is really a bear to start without a functional choke. If you go out to the factory parts website: epc.brp.com and search for your engine and model, you will eventually get to the intake manifold page. The spring you need is 317614. While that specific spring has been discontinued, the superceded part is 387788 and it's still available. Bombardier has 2 pcs left in their Vancouver warehouse. You may have unintentionally flooded the engine. My 79 floods extrememly easily...
