Hi all,

You guys helped me avoid buying a terrible boat last year...and I'm at it again. I have a Suzuki Bandit 1200 up for sale and got an email about trading for a boat.

While he didn't state the model (besides saying it's a 16footer) research points to the V164 Bayflite line.

It has a rebuilt Volvo/Penta motor...I assume it's an AQ130. Motor was supposedly rebuilt after the seals on the cam-driven water pump died and flooded the oil sump with water. Seems like some crummy engineering... It's got an electric water pump now.

The boat also has new(or recovered) seats:

From what I can tell these are popular boats with decent performance and a nice hull.

Besides checking for soft spots in the floor and cracks what common problems should I be on the lookout for?

Also, I value my bike at ~$3K, although I have more into it. I'd normally value the boat a bit less than that, but with a properly rebuilt motor it's hard for me to tell if I should be asking for cash on top, or grinning the whole way home about the deal.

Any and all help, advice and comments are very much appreciated.

Happy boating!
