1972 evinrude 9.5 questions

i am in the marked for a small little fishing boat.i came acrossed a 12 foot aluminum v hull with trailer and a 9.5 evinrude the engine is a 1972 it sat for a season we put fuel to it and it fired up after like 8 pulls.i ran it for about 5 min shut it down and it fired right off with 1 pull. it seems to pump water and the head stays warm to touch.but the recoil teeth look ***** out,some fuel lines,the shift lever is droken but usable.is all this a big deal ??can parts still be bought.i am not sure if anyhting has ever been dont to the engine eather.i can get the boat motor and trailer for 600$ is this fair?sorry about all the questions but i am new to boating and dont wanna be stuck with junk.

wayne,<br /><br />If the boat is real nice, I might take it.<br /><br />The 9.5 was a good engine but did have some issues.<br /><br />The starting mechanism was prone to wear-as you've seen.<br /><br />The powerhead to exhaust tower gasket was prone to go.<br /><br />Yes, you can get most any part for it.

is the tower gasket a hard change and how do i know if have a bad 1 ? also the engine (powerhead) seems to move alot when pulling the start rope is it mounted on rubber motor mounts?
