1972 Evinrude 50hp Timing

I'm trying to find info about timing the ignition on my 50272C.

Should the stator plate be all the way advanced when the throttle is all the way full?

Do you use a timing light while underway at WOT?

yeah thats weird thats the one i use.
yes full advanced and i have never done it underway at wot, i just do what this method says which is you do it with plugs out and you take a few degs off which actually compensates for what happens when in normal operation ive just forgotten how many degs that is.
Someone will know and Joe is around somewhere here himself at times
