Hi,
My outboard motor has been acting really strange and I was hoping that someone could help shed some light on the issue.
My motor will start up fine but after a while, it'll start to "miss". Once it starts "missing," there isn't anything I can do to keep it running and it eventually dies. Once the motor dies, it's extremely difficult to get it started again.
Usually, it'll run for about 10-15 minutes before it starts missing; sometimes it'll run just a few seconds before it starts missing.
I used my infrared thermometer to verify that it isn't overheating and the fuel pump appears to be working well.
What normally causes an engine to "miss"?
Thanks for all the help!

Have you pulled the flywheel and checked/inspected the magneto system for good clean points set at .020, good insulated wire and etc?

Yes. I just finished setting the gap, as well as the entire synchronization process per the service manual. Any ideas?

Do a compression test.
Sounds like a fuel problem.
Check the fuel for water.
Then clean the carb and rebuild the fuel pump.
