1972 25hp Evinrude won't run

Motor has not ran in about a year. Started it up and it will only run for about 10 seconds and then dies. Am using new gas and oil and just replaced the spark plugs are new and properly gapped. any help will be useful. Thanks

If it was not run for a year, you will need to rebuild the carbs. They get gunked up sitting and will need to be cleaned out in order to get the proper fuel supply to the engine.

If it will start up and run for 10 seconds and die, I will have to agree with rick. But dont forget the fuel pump, those little things do not like to sit up. They go bad fast. I would not try to rebuild it, unless you are an expert, they are very picky. A new one costs 45bux + tax. Dont think that you can have one professionally rebuilt for that, at least not around here.
