1972 100hp evenrude controls

Can i use the controls off a 1969 johnson 85hp model is 85esl69e on a 1972 100hp evenrude #100293R the 100hp is a 3button an the 85hp is a single lever throddle shifter.

My understanding is that if the cannon plugs are the same color, you can get by with it. I am sure someone with more knowledge will come along and give the proper advice.

Should be OK.

Both should have the black plugs, so they should be compatible. The 1972 65hp uses the yellow plug system and would not be compatible. As I understand the difference between the two, the yellow plug system has an additional circuit, which is used to ground the power pack in the 65hp engine, in order to shut it off.
