1971 evinrude 60hp

help this thing is driving me nuts .1971 60hp evinrude.just want start are evine hit i have put new carbs check timming and its ok at 22 degress at least thats what the book says.put new points in it set them at 10 degress .and the amp went out so i installed a car coil and it fires great.is it possible that the car coil is not putting out enough votage and what should it be .
