Having a tough time with this one.Is there some secret method to removing the lower unit from this beast.I have released the four 3/8 bolts and the bigger one above the prop,I can't find anything else that would stop it on the outside and there is no shift rod,it being electric shift(horror). I am open to suggestions ,this one is outside my normal comfort zone,it having electronic ignition and aforementioned electric shift. Incidentally,I am less than impressed with the spark it produces but I don't know what I can do about it other than change the power pack.Suggestions also welcome on that.

Correction--Electric shift is actually very good and reliable.----Most folks can not accept that !!-------Did you remove the trim tab to find a hidden bolt ?--You need to disconnect shift wires up at the powerhead too.---And how are you TESTING for spark ?----With plugs laying on the block ?----Or with a tester with a gap set at 7/16" ???

Don't forget to tie something to the shift wires before pulling them down. You will need it to pull them back up.

Agreed, it should throw a 7/16" spark. But it is a thinner spark than what you may be looking for. But it's enough to light up your BVD's if you get ahold of it. If it is sparking on both cylinders, it is unlikely that there is anything wrong with the power pack. Slow cranking or bad charge coils (the two big ones under the flywheel) can contribute to weak or no spark.

Thanks FR.Yes ,it is a very thin spark ,can hardly see it at all in daylight. The sparks I get from my smaller motors with the universal mag make it look like a votive candle at a firework display, throws it barely 1/4" though. I will check the driver coils if I can't get any joy.
Thanks Racer,I must have missed that one though I did take off the trim tab. Will recheck.

If it is jumping a 7/16" gap, it is fine. Yes, very different than the old Universal Mags. It is a very fast spark without all the harmonics, etc.

Not quite following you here FR.Where do the wires come down from,is it through the grommet in the pan or somewhere else inside the leg that you mean,or the lower section that could drop down into the gearcase.I haven't pulled it yet till I find out what you mean.
Geoff.
