I pulled the lower end off and changed the impeller and I don't know if I bumped the powerless shifter or what happened but when I tried to reinstall the lower end I noticed the shift lever in forward. I tried to shift it into neutral so I could SLOWLY turn the flywheel to reinstall the shifter shaft and drive shaft but NO WAY! I pulled the lower end back out so I could have both hands free to adjust the top end. Obviously it won't turn over in drive but if I press the linkage under the flywheel it bypasses the shifter and will free up the flywheel. The shifter is jammed in forward. HOW DO I FREE UP THE SHIFTER KNOB? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

Figured it out...tiller handle was out of alignment and wouldn't let me go into neutral. Played with it for 10 seconds and worked fine.
