My motor would not charge the battery. Checked coil resistance about 1 ohm, OK. Rectifier tested bad with ohm meter. Old motor with no reverse so I thought I would try a cheap fix. Radio Shack has a 25 Amp full wave rectifier bridge I thought would work for $2.99. I bought 4 small brass screws and nuts for about $0.10 each, enlarged the holes on the rectifier contacts and soldered the screws in place. A small jumper wire to ground was fastened with end terminals and a small piece of wire. The rectifier can be mounted to one of the existing rectier screws on the motor with the ground wire terminal sandwiched between motor and rectifier. Other wires are hooked up to their respective brass screws and voila! Power. Works great and I bought a spare in case I or another gremlin turns battery switch off with motor running. Cheap enough to even have 2 spares. This may work on other motors as well.
