Anyone know the dry hull wieght on a 1970 jupiter v 16 closed bow.

I know you guys know.

What's the best Starcraft outboard fishing boat made in 16 or 17 feet with a hull wieght under 800 pounds ?

Thanks

Best "Fishing Boat", I'd go with Mariner Center Console first. then the Super Sport.

You can get the weight of the boats from the specs link at the top of the forum page. It goes by year and aluminum of course is lighter.

Hi Captain my 1969 brochure says 700 lbs. I fish with my 67 Jupiter and would really like a SS someday or a Mariner. I see more SS's around here though. (Arizona)

Thanks for the info. I looked at the links and maybe it's me but couldn't find the specs on Jupiter-v's

My Jupiter was a great boat but not the greatest for fishing. The closed bow does nothing for you in that area. Starcraft made 16 and 18 foot boats. My 18 is bigger in every way than the 16.

I'd love to go with an 18, but with hp restrictions I'm leaning 16.

One boat a friend of mine has is a 18, Superfisherman. I think it's a 94 ish, that hits 20 mph with a Yamaha F25 so that would be an option but I never see these for sale here in Mass.

Lots of beat up 16 SS around here, trying to find a nicer one to start with.

Captain I have a 1970 Jupiter V and 700-750 sounds about right . I know with the interior out of it other than the dash and controls it wasnt a problem for 4 of us to pull her off the trailer and flip her over . We also didnt have any trouble flipping her back upright and carrying her onto the trailer . Beat up old Starcrafts are still a good starting point as long as ( All the parts are there and the hull is sound .) The rest isnt that bad . You will most likely want to take it down to the bare hull and build it back up anyways so you know the deck and transom are in good shape and the rivets and seams are sealed well. I havent finished my first resto and am having a very very hard time resisting an 18' ( at least ) SS I just found for a heck of a price . These boats will get to you and one wont be enough :D.
