1970 evinrude wont idle 4 hp

Hello again, My 25.00 yard sale motor runs great at wot and at 1/2 throttle but it will not run on Idle speed it. What should i be checking out until my manuals get here hopefully Monday from KENCOOK.COM. 1970 Evenrude 4 hp. It just dies when i try to idle it down anywhere past 1/2 throttle. thx Joe

HAVE YOU ADJUSTED THE IDLE SCREW IF NOT<br />TURN TO THE BOTTOM TO CLEAN THEN BACK OUT <br />ABOUT 1/1.5 TURNS AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.

Your low speed circuit in the carb is almost certainly gummed up, Joe. Try Rex's advice. If that doesn't work, overhaul your carb with special attention to the low speed circuits.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . . <br />JB
