Well, I finally got this motor running great.

Now, what I want to know is this...

I've got this motor on a 12' aluminum boat. At full throttle with just me in the boat it just about planes out. Is there any way to get more power out of it?

I use 89-octane gas from a good; well known Gas Company.... not gas-a-haul

I use Evinrude marine 2-cycle oil mixed at 50:1 ratio. Can I mix it a little lean say maybe 40:1 and get a little better performance? Or can I use a higher-octane gas?

Now one, this is for sure. The prop actually looks as old as the motor. Looking at the prop it appears that one of the blades is shorter than the other 2...(It might just be me lol) I’ve got a new prop on order for it. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow.

Is there any thing that I can do to make it faster?

Anything?

Not much you can do with 4HP. Tilt it all the way in to the transome with the tilt pin.
This will help hold the bow down. If this does't help enough then put your anchors, ect in the front of the boat. As a last resort you could try a planing device mounted on the cavatation plate if you can find one small enough. If you can't you can make your own, just make a small copy of a whale-tail.
Just don't make it to large as to break the
cav plate, as they are thin on the small motors.
...have fun...corm
