i get a weak spark at the plug or sometime no spark

Never heard of that one. Maybe Tash is onto something. Let us know how it works out.

i gap the points at.020 and now it,s running
what should the plugs be gap at?

it runs fine, but it,s hard to get running,so i think if i gap the plugs different it may help
oh by the way the plugs are gap at .040 and i think that,s too much?

go to .035 that between the recommend usual settings. 30 is for fastspeed, 40 is usually for a lot of trolling. glad you got it started. guess what Frank it's running. if it stays hard to start come back to 15 on the points and try it. have you got a good strong battery. they need to turn close to 300 rpms to start.

o.k i gap the plugs at .035 and point,s at .016 and it,s running good now but i,m getting a weak spark on number one cylinder and the other twoo strong sparks does this make any sense?
or one point is for #1 and the other is for #2 & #3?

Check the continuity on #1 spark plug wire. Both sets of points work all 3 cylinders.

I thought points gaps were supposed to be .010. It's .020 on magneto points and I've never seen a .016 spec for anything. I'm quite sure amplified ignition points are supposed to be .010.

A lot can be seen at night sometimes. You can frequently see a blue haze around weakly insulated areas, or downright sparks leaping right out of the distributor to flywheel or wires to ground.

It is supposed to be .010" according to the book.
