1970 60hp Evinrude starting problems...

I read online the help ideas for this problem, but they did not seem to steer me the right direction. I looked for the neutral safety switch, but could not find one.

I have a fully charged battery with power to the ignition and to the engine terminal and at the 12v power post, but I do not hear anything when I try to start the engine.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thank you for your help.

What happens when you jump the starter solenoid?

I wanted to try this, but I was not certain of which posts to jump. It looks like the one directly under the 12v + from the battery cable. Is that true?

Thanks..

Check the throttle control lever. If set too far toward "fast" it won't crank.

The safety switch is on top of the powerhead and operated by the timer base. It will instantly be destroyed by improper jump starting or using the wrong solonoid (car solenoid). If you suspect it to be bad, simply ground the white wire. If it cranks then, the switch is bad OR the throttle is set to too fast a position.
