I asked this question before as part of another question but was hoping for more input. The water discharge out of the pee hole is a splutter rather than a nice clean line. Is this normal for an engine of this age or is it an indication of poor water flow?<br />Thanks.

Yes that's normal. It's just a water outlet that also serves as the idle relief port, not a tell-tail like on a modern outboard. As you throttle up and as you warm up you'll get more water out of it.
