Hi, I recently ran into a weird problem with my outboard surging power while hot and trying to go medium full throttle. Think I have that figured out, but we will see the next time it is on the water.
Anyways, I got into syncing and linking the outboard because I haven't done that on this one ever. I had a couple questions about it.
The service manual says to make sure the carbs are linked and that's all good.
I went to check the syncing and I am not sure if it is correct. The first part asks to ensure the center of the cam follower is aligned with the upper mark on the spark advance plate, which I did no problem.
The second part says to adjust the spark advance stop screw until the mark on the distributer base plate aligns with the mark on the distributor cap. I don't see any marks?
I have adjusted the spark advance such that when the cam follower in on the lower mark, the spark advance stop screw is just contacting. Is that correct? I am scared to run it full throttle with it potentially way to far forward on the spark advance. I had to move the spark advance stop screw almost 1/2 inch further advanced.
Maybe I need to have a closer look at my distributer?
