does anyone no where to get a starter for a 1969 merc 200 20hp ive looked everwhere

Hi, Mike.<br /><br />Welcome to iboats. <br /><br />Why do you need a starter? Four of five starters replaced on older engines weren't broke in the first place.<br /><br />If yours has stopped working, go to the Engine FAQs section and do the troubleshooting in the "Outboard wont start" post. That should tell you what is wrong. Most of the time it isn't the starter.<br /><br />Excuse me if I make some assumptions, just trying to save you some bux. <br /><br />If you are certain that the starter is bad, check with an automotive starter overhaul shop.. . lots cheaper than a replacement. . . like about $75 vs. a few hundred.<br /><br />If none of the above work for you, here are some parts sources you may not have tried:<br /> http://www.boatmotors.com/parts/ <br />www.twincityoutboard.com<br /><br />. . .and, of course, eBay.<br /><br />Good luck.

Are you wanting to add electric start to your non-electric 200? You'll need a lot more than a starter. Those are good sites to check. You can get the whole system from the latter if they have any. They seem to be quite rare.

thanks guys for all your help and yes the motor runs fine and it does have the mounting bracket for the starter im getting the starter for my wife ha ha

I have 3 motors older than that any local boat store should do if not check ebay i have had good luck there just be sure to check the sellers feed back
