Just painted up a 1969 lightwin and got her all put back together and it still runs awesome but for some reason the armature plate is not going back together right. if i tighten the four scres that hold it down, i have to use excessive force to give it throttle. if i loosen the four screws that hold the armature plate to the retainging ring it operates like it should but that leaves those screws too loose. i greased the support ring and the retaining ring. not sure whats goin on here. any ideas?? thanks

Stupid question, is the support for the armature plate right way up?

I know i have the support ring on correct and im pretty sure the retaining ring is on right. I have the the tapered side down. (the skiniest side of the ring) The only thing i had question on was a little groove that almost looked like a key way on the retaining ring. I have know idea if that is supposed to go in a certain spot and the manual doesnt specify.

The best thing to do, in a case like this is to remove the armeture plate and clean it up completely and put new grease in it. I found they work so much nicer after this.

i have taken it apart and cleaned it and put new grease on it lotsa times now. it moves smoothly just takes way too much effort. i may try and get a new support ring. it looks like it might be a little bent.
