Hello,
As a new poster I would like to thank everyone who takes the time to read this and for the advice. Here's my problem, I have a 1969 Johnson 40 HP outboard model # RDS-30. ( The model number is only a guess because all numbers have been removed by previous owner.) I bought this boat from a friend knowing that it had carb trouble, it had ran perfectly 5 months prior. I took it to my local johnson repair man and he removed the carb and told me that it need the new threaded bushing for the needle valve, and that he could no longer get them and I would have to buy a new carb. After hours of searching this forum I found that the part I need is #0303939 and is still available. Great except the fact that the repair guy still has my carb and has since closed his shop! I called his number and he tells me that he still has it and will find it and give me a call, that was a week ago, won"t return my calls now! So the root of my problem is I need a new carb for electric start, and was wondering if anyone here knows where I might get a used carb for a good price? I know that these carbs were pretty common during the mid 60's-mid 70's but can't seem to find one. Any help would be greatly appreciated and again thanks for taking the time!

Re: 1969 Johnson 40 HP Carb

I have looked on ebay as I am kind of addicted to it as well:eek:! All i can find is a carb for a manual start, and i am unsure if this will work with an electric start motor? Will all the linkages hook up and work proper? Anyone out threre know of a good boat junk yard, I am in South Dakota and we really don't have on close. Thanks for the help!!
