New to me 1969 18" holiday bought it to replace my 92 Eurosport that I set up for fishing. Holiday came with the canvas and a 2012 115 merc optimax (180 hrs) and a Yamaha 9.9 high thrust power trim and start. Transom and floor are rock solid after 8 hrs on the water there is hardly any water when you pull the plug. My question is what are some things I should look out for on these older hulls? TIA (was 5000 a deal or not)

The water is coming from somewhere. It could be a loose rivet in the hull. The transom also doesn't look good to me. Scrape and poke around with a flathead screwdriver. If anything peels off or feels even a little bit soft, consider getting it replaced. Look around the bottom for dents. If you see any, look at any seams around them where two pieces are riveted. If it has even a tiny gap, that could be your leak.

Nice! How's it sit in the water with the added weight of the Optimax and kicker on the back?

Actually the transom just needs to be repainted to seal it up. Like I said it is rock solid absolutely zero flex or movement.

Nice interior work, can't imagine them not replacing the wood transom when doing all that work.

That year of SC the issues that would come up are rib end and spray rail cracks since it's prior to the placement of the hull braces in the early 70's.

Yea previous owner put some work into the boat updating it. I'm assuming that the rib ends can only be inspected by removing the floor? What about the spray rails is that something you can see from the outside? Lastly is there anything you can do to reinforce the hull without a major tear down or is it just take it slow when it gets rough so you don't beat it up to bad? Thanks for any info you can provide.
