1969 evinrude ignition issues

I have a 1969 Evinrude 115. It seems to be that I have a bad poer pack. I ahve read on here about converting to a msd ignition. Is there anyone who can give a little input on how well this worked for them? I was also wondering if someone can explain the process of grounding the second coil out to the motor in order to lower the output voltage of the msd box.
