Hello sorry i am very new to the whole outboard motor thing but me and some friends own a 1969 johnson 55 and we have done some work to it and it seems to run really well for a while then will eventually start boging out and cut out. starting it then becomes very difficult and if it does turn over it will most likely stall out when put into gear. it doesn't seem to be overheating but it seems when it has been run good for 30-50 min it's had about enough. just wondering if you guys know where to start for trouble shooting.

agree, test the spark when it is acting up, could be a coil or power pack, heating up and failing. very common problem in those engines.
