okay... I am out of ideas.. have a motor was sitting for a few years.. cant get it start, or even "cough" when I try to start it, I have
- cleaned the carburator
-checked for spark (fine)
- checked gas at plugs
- compression "seems" okay..
something should happen, right?
any help would be nice.. the model; is 25R if you need to know

Compression can "seem " ok and not be up to snuff. Go buy or borrow a screw in compression tester and check both cylinders to be sure. Anywhere from 90 on to 125 psi in both cylinders should be adequate to run. Cylinders should be within 10-15 lbs of each other. You need blue spark at both plugs too not just any spark. A motor getting the proper fuel mixture and spark in time with compression will run................you just have to figure out which one you dont have.

As you say it has been sitting up for years experience tells me you more than likely have a fuel delivery problem either due to gummed jets or orifices in the carb or gas isnt reaching the carb thru the filter, either way no gas is getting to the plugs and it wont light off. I assume you have put new plugs in and white spark sounds pretty good. Make sure gas is getting to your carb bowl then on thru the carb to the cylinders. If you pull it several times with the choke out -plug wires off-plugs should be getting wet with fuel.

Did you use a spark tester, or did you ground out the plugs and check spark that way? You need a real spark tester.

I've used the "SeaFoam in the plug hole" trick. Engine will fire on SeaFoam. Not good as a standard practice.

Pull both plugs, spray carb cleaner into carb while turning the engine over. Do this until you have carb cleaner comming out the plug holes. (Not a real good practice, but then you will know that you are getting fuel thru carb).

spraying anything into the carb, fuel, ether or seafoam wont tell you that fuel is getting through the carb...so to speak, it will only tell you that whatever you spray is getting to the cyls. you can spray an engine with the carb removed, and make it run.

spray premix in the carb throat and see if it will fire. Most likely as people have said it's a fuel issue. will need carb cleaned.
