Ok, so i tried to search for an answer, but maybe wasnt lookign for the right thing.

I have a 1969 115 hp evinrude that i have running, and she's going strong

Wellt atleast while she is on the boat out of the water with the hose hooked up, but when i put the boat in the water and she has some load on her, she seems to bog down real quick and sputters, but then when i put like 1/2 of the choke on i can get her to move a bit more, but she will sputter and adventually stall if i give her to much gas.

any ideas of how to diagnose this, or some help would be great thanks

Capt....ya' might consideer a carb overhaul if you havn't done one yet. If the bowl gasket is black, it may be way over due. Can you tell us of any thing you have done to the old girl?

When your on the garden hose, there is no back pressure on the cylinders like there would be when the midsection is in the water. No back pressure and most engines will run on very little fuel.

i actually dont know much about the history of this motor, and i was tryin to get her tuned up good, sofat i have just replaced the plugs, and cleaned her up a bit, also replaced the impeller.

The car looks real clean, and the guy i got it from said he had the carb dipped or something, looks brand new, but i know that it wasnt overhauled

also if she is without the choke she will not go very fast at all, could this be a timing issue, or is it more of a fuel issue, how would one time a motor like this, when the distributor is under the flywheel?
