1968 Starcraft Holiday with a stuck starter

I just bought a 1968 starcraft holiday with a 120hp mercruiser i/o. When I first got the boat it had a sticky starter that would stay enguaged sometimes so I replaced the solenoid. Now the starter always stays enguarged, the boat has a on/off switch then a push button for the ignition. Any ideas what the problem would be?

Did you test the push button? Did you get the wires back on exactly how they came off? It could be that the throw bearing is sticking. Pull the starter out and check if the gear is retracted all the way.
