1968 merc 350 pinging at WOT. timing?

i have a 1968 mercury 350 35hp 2 cyl outboard, it runs ok, and idles nicely, but at WOT i get awful pinging, not sure how to fix, maybe timing? not sure how to time it either.. any help would be appriciated..

Slightly dirty main jet, running a bit too warm, poor fuel, advanced timing, any or a combination could cause a WOT pinging.

Ping will destroy an engine rapidly.

Clean the carb, do a complete link and synch following the direction in the service manual which includes adjusting the timing.
