I have a johnson 1968 100hp i forget the model name but, it has power tilt and trim, which is not stock as ezeke informed me. The problem I have is i need to find a wiring diagram for it, all i know is it was mad by jamar industries cant tell what the model number is but it is electrical t&t not hydrolic has 2 rams and a black box with a bunch of relays. Is it possible to bypass the box in order to check it, and just hook it up to a battery? also it has to plugs for wires, I am assumiong one is for a switch on the dash and the other is for the bow?

Personally I can't place the unit you speak of, perhaps others can't either. It would help if you could insert a picture or two of it. This might ring a bell with a member who could possibly supply that diagram.

Have you got a picture of it?

How many wires go into the trim unit after the box?

Hopefully, it was designed after a factory unit and it might be diagnosed the same way.

Re: 1968 johnson t&T not working

trim unit has 2 wires that run to the box
box has 2 wires for bat. i'm guessing and then tree wires come out the other side , i am guessing that these are for the switch on the dash which was burned with the boat, when i hooked the battery up to the 2 wires running from the trim unit i got nothing, not even a spark. I then rigged everything up and used a 3 way toggle switch and you can hear at least one of the realys clicking inside the box, but the box had been broken at one point thanks for duck tape anyway i was wondering if maybe someone had it apart and didn't put the wires back together properly I will get picks of inside the box as well. anyway where was I... oh when i tried the switch and the relays clicked there was no power from the box or to the unit. does the box reverse the polarity is that why there is only 2 wires running to the unit? ones + for going up then switches to - to go back down?

took the cover off the gearbox on the unit and cleared away some of the grease, one of the wires had come undone inside it somehow they were connected with just the twist on connectors for housing electrical. so that might explain why the tilt didn't work connected to the battery but not why there was no power to it.

Sorry for the rambling but i am really confused now
thanks again guys!!!!!!!!
