I believe I have a 14' 1968 Fleetform. I'm not exactly sure on the year, but that's what the title reports. While stripping the registration stickers off the side, it went down to a 1971 California registration, so I know the year must be close. It is rated at 40hp, and I have a 40hp Evinrude Lark VII from the mid to late 60's that I'm working on to put on this boat. I did find an Aluminum plate on the transom with the serial number, HP and weight rating for the boat. Serial number is 3 digits, don't remember exactly but I think #265. I've tried to research this boat and have yet to find ANY information reguarding a 14' model by Fleetform. There are some 16' versions on Fiberglassics.com that look identical to my boat, except the transom on the 14' is much narrower. Anyone know anything about these boats??

Back in the early 60s we sold Fleetform boats as a entry level boat(cheap 14' was about $450) Don't remember where the were made, but think they stopped production in the late 60s we had some trouble with the transoms cracking in the corners and dropped the line. Probably not what you wanted to hear, sorry--Bob

Re: 1968 Fleetform

From the info that I have found, the Fleetform company was in Texas if I remember correctly, which is now the site of an airport? Been a while since I read about that, not quite sure...

The 14' does have a unique dovetail stern design... my 40hp Rude doesn't leave room for the minn kota. The glass on my transom is in excellent condition, although the plywood has rotted. Currently in the process of replacing that and repainting the entire boat.

Glad to hear someone else has actually heard of this boat, thanks!

I just picked up a 57 Fleetform with a Big Twin. Is it spring yet?

Re: 1968 Fleetform

So far EVERY Fleetform I have seen has that huge splashwell (otherfleetform.jpg) across the back and level with the gunwale. Mine doesn't have this and it's the only one I've seen that doesn't. They do have what looks like a couple mounts on the gunwale (gunwalemounts.jpg) between the front and rear benches. My guess is that these had brackets for a bimini top at one time?

I found my aluminum transom plate the other day, and it shows Serial #263, Max Occupancy: 4, Max Horsepower: 40

Re: 1968 Fleetform

Greetings fellow proud owner. Sounds like you do, indeed, possess a beautiful 1958 or 1059 Fleetform. I have a red-and-white 1959 beauty that I have owned for ten years now. I will never sell it. It has the original Mercury Mark 58A 55hp 2-stroke 4-cyl engine that runs great. All original Mercruiser Quicksilver controls and even the original trailer. All of the serial number plates on all of the components are clearly visable. I will never sell this boat. I'm in love with it. I live in the center of the State of California.

Hi Saxis.

My fleetform has the same brackets yours has and I presumed they were to hold the back of a seat in place.

I'm still trying to identify the year of mine as well. It too has the splashwell like EVERY other one you have seen. :)

The thing that is different about mine from most that I've seen is the transom on mine is flush with the rear of the boat where as most others seem to have the transome set inward of the rear-most part of the boat.

Good luck with your restoration.
