pulled the rope clean out, I know I can get it back together, But sometimes I hear of "shortcuts" or little repair tricks, so im just picking the brains of wiser men than me.
When the rope breaks, the spring has to be rewound.
Get the new rope attached to the spool with the rope exteded fully and fed through the cover.
Tie the handle end of the rope to the tiller handle so that it cannot rewind.
Remove the roll pin that guides the pinion; note that it goes through the sleeve and holds the retainer inside of the sleeve, so that putting it back requires realigning the two parts while maintaining tension on the spring.
Use a large screwdriver to turn the retainer 18 complete revolutions counter-clockwise.
Return the roll pin and release the rope from the tiller.
Note that putting the roll pin back is much easier with an extra set of hands.
