In need of help, and information! Recently, I was tasked with rebuilding a 1967 Johnson Super Seahorse 80, and I'm looking to tie the harness into the boat it's going to be mated to. Any color coding information as far as wires, as well as any diagrams would be amazing. The Seloc Manual has several variations of the V4, but the diagram for this application is missing the color codes, as well as the wire locations within the connector itself.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

see list ...maybe something in here on V4 85hp 1969-70- may... help
Thanks!

I saw the genius comment before yours, and disregarded it as useless. This one helps a tad! I went on the site, and it only shows 85hp as an option for the 67-68 V4's. Is it safe to assume that they utilize the same harness, if we're looking at the version of the diagram with electric shift?
Using ---google ----will find you the wiring diagram.

Sorry----The 85 HP in 69 /70 had a totally different ignition system and shift system was different as well.-----But I am sure you can recognize that.

I can't realy say it is the closest I found for you . Generally speaking unless big mods are introduced as time goes by the " basic" wiring scheme is very similar . At worst, you may need t do some VOM testing to associate one side of a connector with the other.

some sites offer standard marine wire color codes but did not find any with the electrical shift

this one for a smaller 55hp 1969 electric shift outboard may help. I beleive if neither neutral or reverse are energized the GC defaults to FORWARD

Saw the wiring diagram listed on E-Bay for $6.95 ----But that might be too rich for Wiggy.

Thanks. Yes, we noticed that here in the shop. We have the Seloc manual here for the engine rebuild process, and that has several Harness Diagrams in it, ranging in years. Not all of them list the colors of the wires, which is what I'm after when I'm splicing into an existing harness on the boat side. That was what started the search, and after an extensive Google search, and spinning my wheels, I thought I'd come here. I figured a group of guys who were passionate about restoring these outboards would help me get there. I saw that Ebay listing early on, but I didn't want to buy it, and it not be what I need. It's not "too rich" I just want to make sure it's right.

Thanks! If you can get to that that would be awesome. I just finished rebuilding the lower unit on this one, and brought it back to life. The last piece is tying it in to the existing Ignition System on this center console Alumaweld. I own a bait shop in Southern Nevada, and this boat is for one of my clients. We also own a farm, so I get that. We often can use all the help we can get. He is trying to get this thing on the water for Memorial Day Weekend (must be nice) and I think I can make that happen with the right information!
