1967 merc outboard 800 been setting a while.

Hey guys,

Well, thanks to the great help I received on this forum i was able to get spark to the plugs on my 1967 merc 800 outboard serial # 2561378. Now since its been setting a while (close to 3 years) i assume the gas is bad, what should i do to get it ready, new gas and what other suggestions to get it fired up?

Quick gas check with new gas - tilt the motor up and lock it, pump the fuel ball until gas runs out of the carb, tilt motor down and start normally with water hooked up. I would replace the impeller for good luck.
