I was wondering how accessible the parts are for this motor. I was thinking on a complete tear down and rebuild. I don't know the history of this motor just that it sat for 5 years at the PO's house not run and that it sat for some time before that at the PO's PO's. You know the story.

Anyway, I was just thinking that instead of just jerry rigging it together to get it to run I would rebuild/restore it.

Has anybody done this on here and are the parts available. I don't know what I am going to get into when I start taking it apart so I don't know what parts I will need.

I plan on buying the parts manuals, repair manuals, and the original repair manuals from the factory to help me out. Plus I have all of you to for support.

Re: 1967 Johnson 80HP SeaHorse A couple questions.

I own a 66 80HP electric shift, with a battery ignition. I've found a lot of the diagrams for the engine on http://www.boats.net They DO NOT go as far back as '66-'67, but many of the items listed are the same.. My serial is v4al-18, so I typically check parts for v4al-20 (1968) most everything is similar with exception to the ignition system. But the diagrams are always helpful! I've also had good luck finding parts I'm looking for on ebay.. The best results show when I use Johnson V4. Good Luck!!
