The motor has not been started in three years. I put in new plugs which get wet with gas. I can't detect a spark. Also priming the cyclinders with starter fluid doesn't help. What could cause loss of spark in this motor.
thanks
Doc

Howdy, DFB.

If you have no spark on either cylinder it seems most likely that your engine kill switch circuit is grounded. That ignition system is two entirely independent magnetos that share only the kill switch and the flywheel.

You need to pull the flywheel and inspect the mag parts underneath for shorts and crud. Clean and set the points at .020.

Good luck.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

JB, thanks for the insight. However, I had already taken the motor to the dealer. Damage was $77. My wife is picking up the motor. I will check the work ticket when I get home and give follow-up. Oh well, live and learn. Next time I will definitely try to pull the flywheel and check out the ignition parts.
On the upside, I get to go fishing this weekend :)

the new points and condensor did the trick. Motor runs great.
New issue is leaking fuel at junction of line and fuel tank. I bought new line, bulb and connectors....leak still there. Should I take off the male connector on the fuel tank and clean it.
thanks
dfb
