1966 evinrude timming

ok here what i got i broke my timing belt today just trying to figue out where to put my distribtor but first thing is first finding a belt=/ if anyone knows a sight that has them to order i could use the link and with the timing marks it says aline the mark with the notch on the bracket ( i did not see one ) or the switch i see that the fly wheel is on tdc and the mark points out if there is anyone that knows how to do this please let me know i need help

Need to know what motor you have first. And if it is magneto or battery/coil ignition. Electric shift??

magneto coil manaul shift it's a 1966 evinrude v4 60 hp

The belt is part number 305446, about 50 bucks from an Evinrude dealer. There are timing marks on the recoil starter and cylinder, and one on the flywheel. Align the flywheel mark between the other two. Then align the mark on the magneto pulley with the safety switch button and slip the belt on.
www.ishopmarine.com has the belt if you don't have a dealer close by. The postage could be less than the cost of gas to go get one even if you do have a dealer.

i found the mark on the crank case but the mark for the mag im not sure im posting a pic of the only mark near the switch i can see . On the crankcase it sats aling mark with the notch or the switch. sorry pic not that clear took it with my cell phone

Mike, you are looking for the mark on the pulley...as shown in evinrudeboater's picture. The position of the magneto itself makes no difference.

so as long at the mag is pointing to number 1 it would fire just fine? on the bottem under my mag pully there is a mark on the houseing thats what i was wanting to know if the mag pully mark hasto line up with the mark on the houseing
