Hi!
Leave it too your kids to have something for ole dad to work
on. The motor looks complete, but are parts still out there for this motor
to be worth getting to run again?

Welcome to the iboats.com forum. I believe it is the best single resource for recreational boaters. The experts here can help you with any question about your boat, motor and trailer. While not an expert, I owned a 1962 Johnson 75HP (basically the same as yours) for ten years and it served me well. Before you spend any money on parts, you probably should do a compression test to determine how mechanically sound the motor is. That's just one of the many good "How To's" in the FAQ's at the top of the forum. Post your results and then some recommendations can be made based on that info. Also, try to determine if your motor has an electric shift gearcase and let us know. Good luck!

77593 is an electric shift. Do you have the junction box and remote control? If not, then you don't have a complete motor and are missing several hundred dollars worth of stuff. Voltage regulator by itself is $100 and shift switch is $400.

yes ,i got a complete 63 75hp electric this summer for free and some of his advise was invaluable!as for good motors or not lets say that mine started right away as soon as i turned the key.talked to the previous owner and he told me it had been under a tarp for 15 years!!!15 years never looked at and started instantly ,not bad atall!
