i have a old starcraft i want to restore and am looking for advice and tips tricks on it has a hole in hull and needs all new framing and flooring. it might take more to fix then its worth but its a perfect boat for me i love it and want to bring it back too life. i want to do some better built in rod storage put in some better flooring and a super strong transom want to keep the weight down as much as possible to keep good fuel economy wen finished i want to put a 25 to 40 hp merc 4 stroke on it. i want to do a metal flake forest green paint on the hull with a bronze/tan raptor liner on the bottem of hull for beaching it without hurting the fibergrlass. and will trim the interior with red cedar thats sealed with epoxy to show the wood

You may want to have a MOD move this to the resto section. There's a nice sticky there that goes through everything you ever wanted to know about restoring a rotten boat.


I'd review Frisco's thread and the one from Woodonglass (WOG) for floors and transom. Done correctly, standard exterior grade ply will outlast your time with the boat.

The only piece of advice I would offer is to review the weight of the 2 strokes of 1965 vintage and compare it to the 4 stroke you're wanting to hang off the back. I'm betting its heavier...probably by a decent amount....which *may* be an issue.
