1965 Merc 1000 (100 hp) - Thoughts?

Hey guys, I gonna pull the trigger and will be picking up a 1965 Glasspar Seafair Sedan as my newest restoration project. The boat comes with a 1965 Merc 1000 (100 hp). All of my previous experience is with much smaller Evinrudes. I'd be interested to hear any thoughts you may have on older Mercs. The owner says it runs well and he's replaced "a lot" of the old wiring.

When I go to look at it the week-end (and probably take ownership) is there anything I should be looking for with this motor? Of course I'll check compression etc., but any advice or other thoughts would be welcome!
