1965 Johnson 5HP 1965 - need some help with

I just acquired a 65 Johnson 5 hp that has not been run in about 5 years and have a few questions about it. I plan on buying a manual but that will take a few days to get to me. My questions are:<br /><br />1. Where is the pee hole? I do not see one in the cowling area. I see the water input/pick up area just above the prop. I also see a lot of small hiles above that area but it looks like that would be below the waterline.<br /><br />2. Where can I get new decals?<br /><br />3. How do I know if I should replace the impellar?<br /><br />Thanks in advance and have a great day.

Ain't no pee hole fishon. You can see some misty water come out of the compression relief holes on the back side of the midsection just below the lower pan. Thos small holes are water intakes.<br /><br />Replace the impeller. Setting idle for that long will have made the existing one hard and probably won't pump.<br /><br />I would also pop the flywheel and do an inspection of the ignition coils and points. The coils tend to crack after time. This could let the spark go to ground.<br /><br />And don't let the carb go uncleaned. Put that on your list also.<br /><br />Decals, do a search for Antique Outboard Club. Believe you can get some info there. You might also try the Old OMC site.

Good Morning.<br />There is no peehole.<br />There are a few websites that I'm sure others will give you about decals.They are pricey but available.<br />If your engine sat for 5 years,then the first thing you should do is replace your impeller.<br />Good luck.

I doubt you'll find someone reproducing those decals - your motor is in that gray area where it's not quite a classic and not quite new enough to find them on the shelf (but you never know). If you have something to work with you might be able to have someone make something close in vinyl, or if you're good with a scanner and Photoshop, you might be able to make something to print out on decal paper...<br /><br />Good luck!<br />- Scott
