I took my boat out on the lake and went to accelerate, the boat would start to speed up and suddenly the boat would slow down , but the engine would continue to rev up. When I let up on he throttle the boat would continue to move forward. It's not jumping out of gear, it happens in reverse also, and I checked the propeller and it seems fine. I'm stumped.can anyone help me with this?

thanx in advance

Check the rubber slip joint between the prop and prop hub. Sounds like its slipping under load. Put motor in gear and try to turn prop, gas off. If it turns you probably have to replace the prop/hub assembly.

If it's not a sheared pin or a slipping prop hub, I would think you have a lower unit problem.
check the lower unit oil for metal particles.

Draw a line across the hub and prop with a waterproof marker. Then run the boat until it "slips". Check the marks. If they moved you have a spun hub.
