Hey all,
I plan to pick up my first powerboat this evening. I've got a deal-in-principle with the owners and just need to go get it.
It's apparently a '64 Starcraft. I infer that there will be a model name associated with it, and that's where I hope to get some input from you all. It will likely be dark by the time I pick it up, so I might not have photos for a few days. It's not an open bow boat, and the seats have been removed. It hasn't been used in "a couple of years." I've been reading up on "waking a sleeping outboard," various floor replacement threads, and the aluminum hull restoration threads. I can tell I'm going to rely heavily on this community for help, and I'm confident my experience will allow me to be a good help to others!
It's currently equipped with an 85 Horse Johnson of unknown year. A V4 model, I'd say.
I'll try to get some more info from the boat so I can get help here...as well as plenty of photos.
My plan is to get the engine running and the mechanicals of the boat together for use this summer. Then maybe this fall and next spring, I'll focus on doing a bit of an overhaul on the boat (probably sole, transom, interior, paint, etc).
I hope to have some photos for you in a few days.
