1964 merc.850 no power top end

have 64 merc.850 it starts like a dream but when u put it in gear it stalls, but if u play around with it u can get it into gear but it will not take off it will run but it will not take power<br />got spark at all6 points have been set with plate and since then it starts nice wondering weather i should go at timing next or carbs anybody ever have this problem and able to point me in right direction johnlewis51@hotmail.com ill tll u thanks in advance

Try the carbs, but your labrynth seals are probably shot on your reed blocks. That would mean an overhaul.
