1964 Fisherman 5.5 Thermostat and Gasket

Need to replace the thermostat in my 1964 5.5 Fisherman.
Wondering about orientation of thermostat gasket; flange up or flange down.
Any advice?

Isn't the gasket flat, don't recall them having a flange on the gasket, but it's been a while.

Well, take a look at the one you removed. Easy enough. They pretty much are set up, to where it goes in one way. The holes may not line up correctly if it's not installed correctly.

My mistake. I have not defined the part correctly.
It is the "Seal, thermostat housing."
The "Gasket, thermostat" is indeed flat.

Doesn't the seal wrap right around the flat part of the thermostat?

I just know if I pick an orientation, it will be wrong.....

It has sort of a "skirt" on one side. That goes down.

although i believe it is flange up, i want to make sure 100% first

part number 4# thermostat seal, flange UP

part number 6# gasket thermostat cap is flat, makes no difference GOES IN ONLY ONE WAY

went to my 6HP fisherman to check...............
